This just in from the Liverpool FC official website and slowly popping up in all other soccer news sites.
Although the official LFC website didn't provide the figures, soccernet believes the fee to be around £20m. Which in my opinion does seem alot for a player with an injury history. I mean, Michael Owen was free! He started(sub appearances) for the last few seasons were 14(13), 17(11), 15(7), 26(6).
Nevertheless, we all know the skill Aquilani possess and I'm sure he learned alot from Totti. In fact, I rate him as 'the next Totti'. So hopefully he will come good for Liverpool. Undeniable this guy has skill. He was captain of the Italian U-19 and U-21 squads, so he has some positive mental attributes about him. Rafa also described him as having a 'winning mentality' which is essential in all good players and sportsman.
Though the dismal appearance record seems to make him out to be somewhat of a gamble, I'm sure Rafa knows what he is doing. Afterall, it was said that AA only suffered recurrence of his ligament injuries because Roma were trying to rush him back too quickly. Let's hope now his injuries are behind him. Steven Gerrard was injury-prone, but looks to have shaken that off in the last two years, which was about the age AA is now.
So I wish he stays fit and we can see what a great player he is. Because no matter how much skill you have, if you can't stay fit to kick the ball, you're no use either. Like a certain Harry Kewell we knew.
