Just a few comments about the stories in the papers today.
As far as I'm concerned, they are non-stories. They claimed that Liverpool are 'stepping up the chase' for Villa, and that Aberloa is going to Madrid with Alonso in exchange for another player, Negredo being the name thrown around. But then, there are no quotes. Not from Rafa, nor the owners. Rafa is enjoying the sunshine and humidity in Singapore, whilst the owners are over negotiating a loan refinancing deal with RBS.
Although I would love to see Silva and Negredo at Liverpool, Liverpool fans should not get excited because these stories are meaningless. And hence I will stop commenting on them now.
In other news, Captain Stevie G has been cleared of charges of affray. He is the only one of the seven involved who was cleared. This, obviously, has nothing to do with the fact that he is the captain of the Liverpool team, or in fact just a professional footballer at a big club. It's all a bit silly really, how the world turns a blind eye when a professional footballer is treated differently, especially one of Steven Gerrard's stature. Having said that, Joey Barton must have done some really really bad things to deserve what he got.
And finally, I wish Liverpool all the best in Singapore. I wish I was there to be part of the tour!
