Penalty Shit-Out

That one one bloody boring game, if I didn't put my money on Switzerland, I probably would have turned the tv off in the 15th minute. Ukraine and Switzerland have played out an extraordinarily boring match. And you know how much I bag Ukraine, and they did not prove their critics wrong.

If someone said Chelsea was a defensive team, take a look at Ukraine. They should ban teams from playing that way somehow. That was dead boring. They hardly attacked, and defended with 11 men behind the ball. They did not concede a single offside goes to how how deep they were defending. In Jose Mourinho's words, "they brought the team, and parked the team bus in front of the goal".

I'm so disappointed Ukraine went through, it would just encourage teams to play nonsense football, or like how another famous manager Arsene Wenger would say, it was "anti-football". They play to destruct not create. I hope Italy thrashes them now, though they knocked the Aussies out.

That was another BS match, the brave aussies getting knocked out by 10 men Italy with an injury time dubious penalty. Manz, that was such a bad way to exit. At least this time the Italians can't say the referees were biased against them! Nevertheless, the socceroos have done Australia proud already. Better luck next time - the next time they qualify for the tournament.

The stage is looking set for a Brazil vs Germany final (again), but there is still alot of time for that to change. Assuming Brazil and Spain overcome their next games, they will face each other and what would be a great encounter. I think whoever wins that game would go all the way to the finals.


My predictions:
Brazil v Ghana... of course everyone thinks Brazil will win. I wouldn't dare say otherwise, but Ghana could be the surprise package. At least they don't play shit football like Ukraine! Brazil 2-1 maybe.

Spain v France... would there be pain for Spain? I think this year they are stronger than their French opponents though, and that should see them through to the next round. But France have players - I mean a player - who can change the game on their own. Mr Theirry Henry, it's time to step up to the challenge! Spain 2-0.

Then the quarter-finals would look like this:
Germany v Argentina
Italy v Ukraine (I hope Italy wins by a huge huge margin!)
England v Portugal (which England have the potential to stuff up)
Brazil v Spain

My guess would be the semis looking like:
Germany v Italy
England v Brazil

That said, you get a final of Germany v Brazil. Something I predicted at the start of the tournament, but I also stress that there is much time for that to change.
